On behalf of the Swedish government, the Swedish Institute of Assistive Technology (SIAT) shall carry out a program with development and information efforts for the purpose of supporting municipalities in strengthening security in personal social alarms in connection with the ongoing introduction of digital technology within the telephony area.

About the program Digital Social Alarms

Testing operation

The program shall support large-scale projects where problems in both highly populated and sparsely populated areas are addressed in one or several municipalities.

Testing operation in Sjuhärad and Norrbotten 

Technical studies

The government assignment, Digital Social Alarms, shall contribute to technical studies of how digital social alarms function in a digital infrastructure, as well as how they function with different operators and equipment for electronic communication.

Industry organisation

The program will also contribute to the creation of an industry organisation and initiate the standardization for digital social alarm communication.

What: Increase knowledge about how personal social alarms and transfer technology must be adapted to the digital infrastructure that is being built in Sweden.

Who:
The governmental assignment is being carried out by the Swedish Institute of Assistive Technology (SIAT) in close cooperation with the National Board of Health and Welfare, the Swedish Post and Telecom Agency (PTS) and the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SALAR).

When:
2010-2013

Budget:
SEK 15 million

Current status: Test operations in municipalities in Sjuhärad and Norrbotten have started.
