Since 2004, SIAT has had a cooperation agreement with the World Health Organisation (WHO) in the field of assistive technology. The cooperation is made together with the Disability and Rehabilitation Team (DAR), which is the WHO's disability and rehabilitation unit.
SIAT has participated in groups of experts to establish guidelines for wheelchair manufacture in countries with limited resources, and for assistive devices in the field of Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR). SIAT has also participated in the preparatory cooperation regarding texts about assistive technology in the World Report on disability.
The publication Guidelines on the provision of manual wheelchairs in less resourced settings was published in 2008 and is available on the web site of WHO.
